Gadus Morhua
Cod is the most common and economically important saltwater fish in Norway.
The Norwegian cod lives much of its life in the Barents sea, but each winter the cod mitigates to the Norwegian coast to spawn.
This mitigation contributes to the cod's distinctive firm, lean and tender flesh and gives it a nice flaky texture and a wonderful taste.
The cod can be found anywhere from the surface to 600 meters depths, and the main fishing season is January to April.
Cod can grow up to a maximum of 150 cm and 40 kg, and is rich in Proteins, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12 and Selenium.
